Top Five Remaining 2009 Nfl Games

Aside from New England, the Cowboys probably pose the greatest threat to the Saints’ undefeated season.

It’s safe for NFL betting fans to say we’ve reached the stretch run of the 2009 season. If the Houston Texans make the playoffs, it’ll be by the skin of their teeth; they’ll probably find themselves in a “win to get in” situation on the last day of the season. With Thanksgiving and Christmas and bowl games and so many other things to juggle on our busy schedules over the next month, it’s a good idea to mark down the most important remaining NFL games on the calendar. We have the undefeated Saints in their rowdy Louisiana Superdome on Monday Night Football. Hosting the powerful Patriots, the Texans could give fans and sportsbook bettors a real thriller as they push to finally reach the postseason.

Sunday, January 3, 2010: NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS @ HOUSTON TEXANS

. However, the Patriots and Texans could offer something else – the biggest game in a young franchise’s history. This is a big game. The Ravens and Steelers have slipped behind the Cincinnati Bengals for now and could very well be battling for the final AFC Wildcard berth come Dec. Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Randy Moss – what more could you want?

It’s already a treat to make NFL picks for a Saturday game, so the fact that we see two contending teams clash is gravy here.

Monday, November 30: NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS @ NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

This pick probably comes as a shocker, especially when Week 17 includes Giants/Vikings, Eagles/Cowboys and possible bids for perfect seasons from Indy and New Orleans.

We have to have at least one key divisional matchup on this list and there’s perhaps none bigger than this Week 16 tilt. 27. Saturday, December 19: DALLAS COWBOYS @ NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

By: Bet Online

Everyone’s talking this one up and for good reason.

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

Sunday, December 27: BALTIMORE RAVENS @ PITTSBURGH STEELERS

Sunday, December 20: GREEN BAY PACKERS @ PITTSBURGH STEELERS

Here’s a matchup we don’t get to see enough in online betting, don’t you think? Two storied teams with gritty, smashmouth team personas going head to head. We get to see two of the game’s top defenses challenge two of the game’s top quarterbacks in Aaron Rodgers and Ben Roethlisberger. The Saints have the NFC’s best offense and the Patriots lead the AFC in scoring. Here they are, in chronological order. Tony Romo will have to shake his history of December woes to make this a game but I like his chances to do so indoors

College Football Wrap-Up – 3 More Unbeaten Teams Fall and 7 Top 25 Teams Are Upset

1 Ohio State and gave Ohio State a most unfriendly 31-18 whipping while completely dominating the Buckeyes, who came in with their privileged reputation and a 6-0 record.

The best realization of this is that it is impossible to just pencil in Alabama, Florida or Ohio State as the No. They had won 6 in a row against Washington, and had won 7 of their past 9 Pac-10 road games.

That said, the Huskies have a real headliner in Jake Locker, who would be winning more games if his receivers would stop dropping passes, and his defensive teammates would start playing defense.

The South Carolina Gamecocks, who had just upset Alabama to rise to 10th in the AP Poll, led unranked Kentucky 28-10 at the half, but were outscored 21-zip by the Wildcats in the second half as Kentucky held on to upend the Gamecocks, 31-28.

No. Locker also picked up 60 yards on 12 carries (5.0 ypc), and Chris Polk added another 105 yards. The Beavers paid a visit to the up-again, down-again Washington Huskies. Whatever happened to that thing called defense?

Washington needed a defensive stop at a critical moment and finally got one when the conversion pass to Joe Halahuni went through his hands as he was hit by linebacker Cort Dennison.

Eight other Top 25 teams had great wins to keep moving onward and upward.

Ohio State was ranked 6th nationally in scoring offense, and 6th in scoring defense. The Cornhuskers (5-0), who hosted Texas, are sorry they ever showed up. The 19th-ranked Wolf Pack brought their perfect 6-0 mark to Hawaii, the land of pineapples and passes. The Air Force Falcons will have to regroup for some strategy.

Locker threw a career-high 5 touchdown passes, including 2 to Jermaine Kearse in a double-overtime game, and Oregon State’s 2-point conversion attempt for a win in the 2nd overtime period fell incomplete as the Huskies beat the Beavers 35-34.

All bets are off now – the national championship race is wide open, and apparently getting wider by the week.

Nevada was the third unbeaten team to fall. Wisconsin would rather smash you in the mouth, and they did.

Besides Ohio State, Nebraska and Nevada, 4 other ranked teams lost – South Carolina, Florida, Air Force and Oregon State.

The seventh team to miss victory this week was the 24th-ranked Oregon State Beavers, who were beginning to look for real. 2-ranked Oregon and No. 1 team.

Hawaii also has a high-scoring offense, averaging 39 a game. 1 Alabama put a 31-6 thrashing on the Florida Gators, who won the national championship two years ago and four years ago.

They included really good road wins by 3rd-ranked Boise State over San Jose State 48-zip, 11th-ranked Utah over Wyoming 30-6, 20th-ranked Oklahoma State over Texas Tech 34-17, and 21st-ranked Missouri over Texas A&M 30-9.

Six other top-ranked teams had much less impressive victories. The Aztecs, who led 10-6 at the half, made it official with the final score. Apparently, when there is no Tim Tebow, there is suddenly no Florida. They included 8th-ranked Alabama’s really lame win at home over 79th-ranked Mississippi 23-10, 9th-ranked LSU’s pathetic triumph over 149th-ranked, AA McNeese State 32-10, and 15th-ranked Iowa’s 38-28 victory over Michigan.

The college football world was turned upside down this week as 7 Top 25 teams were upset, including No. 15-ranked Stanford were idle this week.

Air Force, which debuted in the Top 25 last week at 23rd, took a flying leap back out of the poll this week after being beaten by unranked San Diego State, 27-25. Imagine for a moment a SEC game with 108 total points scored. The Warriors (now 5-2) had more total offensive yards and passing yards. The Longhorns, who had previously lost to UCLA and Oklahoma, led 17-3 at the half and won, 20-13.

Earlier in the season, then No. The voters will now be embarrassed to put their undeserving, favorite team on top of the football polls. There is, of course, no truth to the rumor that Warrior players throw pineapples as well as passes, they just have a lot of very big, talented Samoan athletes on the island.

The fact that Nebraska was ranked 9th in scoring offense nationally, 7th in total offense, 4th in scoring defense and 12th in total defense, did not mean squat. 1 Alabama last week, and this week the Wisconsin Badgers hosted No. 1-ranked Ohio State, and 3 of the 7 saw their unbeaten seasons ‘and national championship dreams – all but vanish before their eyes.

The Mississippi State loss meant that Florida coach Urban Meyer suffered 3 consecutive losses for the first time in his coaching career. Someone forgot to tell Wisconsin’s players, who could give a flip about the Buckeyes stats. The Warriors shut down Nevada’s 7th-ranked scoring offense (43 points per game) while winning, 27-21, after leading 17-zip at the half..

In a side note, Auburn barely led Arkansas 37-35 after the 3rd quarter, but the Tigers outscored the Razorbacks 28-8 on some miscues in the last quarter to go on and win 65-43. Hawaii leads the nation in passing offense.

Florida, ranked 22nd, hosted Mississippi State, rated 33rd by Sagarin, and found itself on the short end of a 10-7 stick. The defeat was so bad that the Buckeyes dropped to 11th in the weekly AP Poll.

No. The good old boys from the south have choked on their chewing tobacco. The Gators offense has just collapsed; two weeks ago they only scored 6 on Alabama, and now they have just dropped out of the Top 25 with a 4-3 record following consecutive losses to Alabama, LSU and Mississippi State.

The Badgers led 21-3 at the half, and the Buckeyes were wondering if they shouldn’t get on the bus home at halftime. Kearse had 9 catches for 146 yards and his school-record 4 touchdowns came on 16, 45, 17 and 21-yard passes.

Now there are only 10 major schools that are unbeaten going into the 8th weekend of the season – TCU, Auburn, LSU and Michigan State all are 7-0, and Oregon, Boise State, Oklahoma, Utah, Oklahoma State and Missouri are all 6-0.

South Carolina just did not play the second half, and failed to finish off its opponent.

Also, 16th-ranked Florida State’s narrow 24-19 effort hosting 110th-ranked Boston College, 17th-ranked Arizona’s weak 24-7 win at Washington State, and 25th-ranked West Virginia’s 20-6 escape against 100th-ranked South Florida.

Here are 4 upsets – East Carolina, ranked 71st, knocking off North Carolina State 33-27 in overtime, 189th-ranked Eastern Michigan beating 124th-ranked Ball State 41-38 in overtime, 161st-ranked Rice nipping 77th-ranked Houston 34-31, and 159th-ranked UAB (Alabama-Birmingham) upsetting 112th-ranked UTEP (Texas-El Paso), 21-6.

Seven other unranked teams deserve a mention.

South Carolina knocked off then No. Ohio State, favored by 4 on the road, failed to cover by 18 points. 5-ranked Nebraska fared no better. That’s tough luck, for Florida, not Mississippi State.

Great home victories included 7th-ranked Auburn outlasting 12th-ranked Arkansas, 65-43, in the game of the week that featured offense and no defense, 4th-ranked TCU over BYU 31-3, 6th-ranked Oklahoma over Iowa State 52-zip, and 13th-ranked Michigan State over Illinois 26-6.

Here are 3 thumpings – Georgia shutting out Vanderbilt 43-zip, USC taking it to California 48-14, and Kansas State ripping Kansas 59-7 after leading 52-zip after 3 quarters.

Both Oregon State and Washington are now 3-3 on the season.

Throw out almost everything you thought you knew for sure. Cornhusker coach Bo Pelini can obsess over those stats all he wants, it doesn’t matter, Nebraska, favored by 10, failed to cover by 18, exactly like Ohio State.

Copyright © 2010 Ed Bagley

Locker was 21-of-35 passing (60%) for 286 yards and the 5 TD strikes. It is a new order of virtual parity at the top in college football.

The loss was Nevada’s 6th straight at Hawaii

While on the one hand these stories largely amuse the public on the other hand the stories generate good business for print and media. The book presented different sides of gambling, something that could be cited in the novels written on gambling in 1800s.

Cybergambling returns — and this time it’s legal

“Blackjack and poker have a very human element that’s lost online. “If we are unable to determine that you are in New Jersey, you will be unable to play on Virgin Casino,” the site notes. Gov. “Blackjack, slots. market could be worth as much as $9 billion in the coming years as other states, including California, legalize online wagering.

Not everyone agrees with the odds. “That’s where I see the huge potential in online gambling, and I reckon the U.S. — notably sports betting.

Prohibition failed – again

Last month, the president and CEO of the American Gaming Association testified before Congress and urged legislators to repeal their 7-year-old ban on Internet gambling.

To prevent unauthorized access, Virgin Casino physically locates gamers’ cellphones periodically. Chris Christie validated the vice in the waning weeks of 2013, saying he hoped to rake in $1 billion in casino revenues this year, of which the state will collect a 17 percent tax.

Globally, the business is even more lucrative. U.K. will catch up to the rest of the world and allow it at some point.”

“Last year, before a single state authorized legal online gaming, Americans spent nearly $3 billion on illegal, unregulated offshore gaming sites. If your phone is off, or if you’re too near state borders, you may not be allowed to play.

Congress banned online gambling in 2006. Others predict the overall U.S. 10. Not just poker.”

“In sports gambling, it’s about the bet,” DeGaris said. They play against the house at Virgin Casino, and they can finance their wagers with debit cards, credit cards, or in person.

“Slots and roulette are very visceral games, lots of bells and whistles. market research firm H2 Gambling Capital, which focuses on the gaming industry, predicted about $300 million for New Jersey’s online casinos — or about $45 million in tax revenue, according to the New York Times. “The technology is rolling out this week.”

Mega-entrepreneur Richard Branson’s Virgin Group is the latest entry in online gambling, teaming with the Tropicana Resort in Atlantic City and online game maker Gamesys to bring online poker, blackjack and slots to New Jersey this week. That doesn’t translate online,” DeGaris told FoxNews.com.

‘Last year, before a single state authorized legal online gaming, Americans spent nearly $3 billion.’

“It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out,” said Laurence DeGaris, associate professor of marketing at the University of Indianapolis and an expert in Internet culture.

Legalizing gambling across the U.S. In online casino gambling, it’s about the game more than the bet.”

Freeman said the Department of Justice has relaxed its views toward online gambling since 2011, and this could open up even more opportunities in the U.S. will generate – in addition to tax revenue from the proceeds at casinos – approximately 22,000 new online gambling-related jobs, Freeman testified.

What happens online, stays online

Six other firms, including popular companies like WSOP.com and Ultimate Poker and other casinos like Caesars and the Golden Nugget, participated in the “soft play” launch of online gambling in New Jersey in November, the state’s Department of Gaming Enforcement Director Dave Rebuck said during a recent conference call.

“There will be many games to play online in New Jersey,” Fenton told FoxNews.com. Virgin could be holding a full house, but it could also fail before the flop.

- Geoff Freeman, president and CEO of the American Gaming Association. To put that into further context, Americans accounted for nearly 10 percent of the entire $33 billion worldwide online gaming market,” Freeman said.

“Prohibition simply does not work,” Geoff Freeman told a House panel on Dec. “The federal government has tried the prohibition approach – specifically the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 and the Wire Act – and through multiple Justice Department crackdowns on offshore operators as well.”

Players must be at least 21 years old, and either reside in New Jersey or be in the state when they place their bets. Nevada and Delaware also began offering some online gambling last year, but New Jersey is the first state to “fully” legalize it, said Lee Fenton, the chief operating officer of Gamesys.

But analysts are mostly rolling with Christie and the casinos. But new laws across the nation are rolling the rules back — and lawmakers think they’re holding a royal flush.

Many Americans simply ignored the ban, he noted, as the country did during Prohibition in the ’20s.

“Those from other states can play, but they cannot wager,” Fenton said. H2 said the industry was worth $33 billion in 2013, with $4.5 billion coming from mobile gambling on iPads, iPhones and smartphones.

And New Jersey isn’t alone; eight other states have bills in the works that will allow Internet gambling as well

It is played by placing a bet of one or more credits and by inserting money into the machine. Then the player gets a chance to hold or reject one or more of the cards in exchange for a new card, which is drawn by the player from the same virtual deck. The game of video poker is quite popular in Las Vegas. After this the ‘deal’ button is to be pressed to draw the cards. Its addiction can be disastrous to the concerned person as well as his entire family.

Gambling is one amongst the most eminent sources of entertainment today. Poker is the well-known game of skill. However all the players should take gambling in a sporty spirit only. One that relates to playing casino games and the other to bets on various sports. Blackjack is the game of card counting. It’s also known as twenty-one and pontoon in British English. This is followed by a machine evaluation of the hands. Prior to playing any game it is better to get acquainted with its rules first. If the hand matches one of the winning hands in the posted pay schedule the machine offers a payout. . This sort of gambling can be within the four walls of a casino or at home. Nowadays the enticement of gambling is at a surge.

Broadly speaking gambling is of two forms. Internet is a good way to know about these moneymaking games. The winner of the game (who has the best combination of cards) takes away this pot. Gambling is all about wagering money usually to acquire more wealth or even things of material significance. it provides a rule book for almost every game. Some of the most common gambling games are poker, baccarat, blackjack, video poker, slot machines etc. Besides this there is gambling related to gambling tables, deck of cards, slot machines and the like. to play. But today with the advent of online gaming any gambling aficionado can relish gaming while relaxing on his couch. For instance betting on horse race, car races, sports betting are all different types of gaming because in these cases too a person puts an amount of money at stake, calculates the odds etc. In poker players make wagers into a central pot with fully or partially concealed cards. People cherish these games across the globe. Few decades from now, gambling at home meant lot of expense and work. For a person had to collect various ingredients such as cards, table, dice, coins etc. Blackjack is popular for card counting, a skill with which players can turn the odds of the game in their favor by making betting decisions based on the values of the cards known to remain in the deck. It is legalized only at few places such as Las Vegas. It is also the cause of livelihood for many people.

Though gambling is also a good source of revenue yet is proclaimed illicit in most parts of the world.

All these games have different rules and regulations. This is why apart from ordinary people it is commonplace to see celebrities gambling in some or the other big casino. Moreover with the arrival of online gambling, gaming has reached in every corner of the world

Offshore Gambling Operators to fall under Secondary UK Online Gambling Tax

As a result of this, the government has decided to apply a secondary tax on all such offshore gambling ventures.

The commission that has been formed by the UK officials has been established with the purpose of analysing the relevance, bearing and outcome, should a secondary taxation be implemented on the offshore operators. However, since the time of its inception, this has come under scrutiny and has been widely criticised not just by local land-based casinos and betting establishments related to sports but also by several prominent politicians and public figures of the country. Owing to such rules, offshore ventures have managed to cash in much more than their UK-based operators have been able to do.

In the recent turn of events, UK officials have decided to investigate the online gambling taxation scenario in the country and have declared that a commissioning body has already been formed for the same. There is a major discrepancy in the profits earned by the offshore and local ventures, thanks to the extremely lenient taxation rules that are levied on the offshore operators. Speaking about the issue, Ralph Topping, CEO, William Hill, said, “Money will always find a way out. With a growing number of people voicing their opinions against this glaring differentiation, the government of UK has been forced to rethink its policies. This survey conducted by William Hill also brought to light the fact that if the tax is 10%, ventures would lose 27% of their revenue while if the tax is 15%, ventures would lose as much as 40% of their revenue. However, there are other ventures like Rank PLC that believe giving offshore ventures the advantage of not having to pay tax is against the EU legislation.

. More people will go overseas or to fly-by-night, unregulated sites where the consumer is not protected. If the stricter laws are sanctioned, such disparity will soon be a thing of the past.

The relatively easier law that governs offshore gambling ventures was adopted by the UK online gambling legislation in the year 2005. Views of many of experts from the industry as well as several gambling ventures representatives will be considered by the committee before a conclusion is arrived at. Currently, the offshore operators who provide online gambling facilities in Britain have an upper hand on the British operators which has, understandably, disgruntled the local land and online operators. Going by the report, tough times are predicted for offshore online gambling operators as the government plans to impose taxation laws that promise to be more stringent than they have been in the past. I hope the Government sees sense on this.” For the very purpose of evading high taxes in the UK, William Hill had moved its operations headquarter from the country to Gibraltar. With so much talk surrounding the UK government’s impending secondary taxation and licensing implementation, legendary William Hill decided to go ahead with its independent survey. The results have been worth a glance.

The survey revealed that should the taxation be levied on such operators, gamblers and betters in UK would not shy away from playing at unlicensed sites, just to avoid the complications. With this new law being passed, William Hill would be back to the mess it was in three years back
